Wakirlpirri by Liddy Napangangka Walker Cushion Cover

Wakirlpirri by Liddy Napangangka Walker Cushion Cover

$65.00

These texturally exquisite cushion covers are created through Better World Arts Cross Cultural Projects. This cushion features the artwork of Liddy Napanangka Walker of the Warlukurlangu Artists in Yuendumu, in central Australia, and is chain-stitched by skilled Kashmiri artisans with the highest quality Kashmiri wool. The Cross Cultural Projects give substantial benefits to all the participants in the production process. The results truly have to be seen and touched to be believed.

Wakirlpirri - Dogwood

The main motif of this stunning artwork depicts the walkirlpirri (dogwood - Acacia coriacea) tree. Walkirlpirri is a very useful tree that grows on the sides of creek beds and near mulga trees. The seeds can be eaten raw or they can be cooked on the fire for a deliciously sweet drink called yinjirrpi. The wood can be used to make karli (boomerangs).

The price quoted here includes GST and free delivery within Australia.
