These texturally exquisite cushion covers are created through Better World Arts Cross Cultural Projects. This cushion was designed by Ormay Nangala Gallagher of the Anangu/Pitjantjatjara/Yankunytjatjara lands in central Australia and chain-stitched by skilled Kashmiri artisans with the highest quality Kashmiri wool.

Yankirri Jukurrpa (Emu Dreaming) – Ngarlikurlangu The ‘yankirri’ travelled to the rockhole at Ngarlikurlangu to find water. Emus are represented by their ‘wirliya’ (footprints), arrow-like shapes that show them walking around eating ‘yakajirri’ (bush raisin). In the time of the Jukurrpa there was a fight between a ‘yankirri’ ancestor and Wardilyka (Australian bustard) ancestors over sharing the ‘yakajirri’. This Jukurrpa story belongs to Jangala/Jampijinpa men and Nangala/ Nampijinpa women and there is a dance that is performed during initiation ceremonies.
