These texturally exquisite cushion covers are created through Better World Arts Cross Cultural Projects. This cushion was designed by Mantuwa George of Kaltjiti Arts in the Anangu/Pitjantjatjara/Yankunytjatjara lands in central Australia and chain-stitched by skilled Kashmiri artisans with the highest quality Kashmiri wool. The Cross Cultural Projects give substantial benefits to all the participants in the production process. The results truly have to be seen and touched to be believed.

This abstract image is typical of Walka work, which is unique to artists of the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands, in remote north-west South Australia. The different forms of the desert landscape have a great impact on the artists' use of colour and image construction. The imagery is also influenced by the ancient Aboriginal culture and the land from which it draws its origins.
