Andrea Nungarrayi Martin Woollen Cushion Cover

Andrea Nungarrayi Martin Woollen Cushion Cover

$68.00

These texturally exquisite cushion covers are created through Better World Arts Cross Cultural Projects. This cushion was designed by Andrea Nungarrayi Martin of the Anangu/Pitjantjatjara/Yankunytjatjara lands in central Australia and chain-stitched by skilled Kashmiri artisans with the highest quality Kashmiri wool.

Ngarlu Jukurrpa (Love Dreaming) The Dreaming site of Miinypa or Yanyilingi is Ngarlu, meaning "Red rock". A Jungarrayi man called Lintipilinti fell in love with a Napangardi woman, a taboo relationship. He sang Yilpinji (love songs) as he worked. She realised that someone was singing Yilpinji for her. A little bird visited her every day taking Jungarrayi’s songs to her. That bird can still be heard sometimes in the bush - It helps people find certain bush foods. It also talks to people when they are lonely, sad or in danger.
The Cross Cultural Projects give substantial benefits to all the participants in the production process. The results truly have to be seen and touched to be believed.

The price quoted here includes GST and free delivery within Australia.
